Beaumont Tiles 2024 ‘Tile of the Year’ embraces travertine

A form of limestone, travertine is an enduring material in the world of design and it’s the latest inspiration behind Beaumont Tiles’ 2024 Tile of the Year, Pompeii. Available in four neutral shades, the colour-bodied porcelain range can be used on the wall or floor and it’s finished with a Microtec slip-resistant coating making it the perfect choice for indoor and outdoor spaces.
“Using the Pompeii Microtec range can create a seamless flow from your living area into your back garden, giving a spacious and luxurious feel that the Mediterranean style is all about,” says Rachel Gilding, Beaumont’s design specialist, highlighting the flexibility of the product. UV fade-resistant, durable, resistant to thermal shock, frost and fireproof, the Pompeii range requires no sealing or maintenance either. We love that!
A large part of the Pompeii appeal is the Microtec coating that is applied during the manufacturing process – the glaze creates a surprisingly smooth surface of slip-resistance. But unlike conventional slip-resistant tiles where randomly applied abrasives are used to create a rough surface, Microtec is a fine uniform coat of microscopic granules applied during manufacturing to form a smooth grip finish.
Available in a variety of shapes, the range comes in feature mosaics and a 20mm paver iteration. “You can install this sophisticated paver with ease on driveways, around pools, a garden path or even on balconies thanks to their UV stability and all-round durability,” says Rachel of the range that is resistant to pool salts and chlorine too.
