A truly insta-worthy new holiday house in Gerringong
Uma on Werri is Gerringong’s newest holiday property; a new-build designer home now open for bookings. The seven-bedroom property has been purposefully designed as a spacious and stylish beachside retreat for large families, multi-generational families and intimate groups.
Located in a coveted, quiet pocket at the northern end of Werri Beach, there are a variety of outdoor offerings right on the property’s doorstep. Guests can pop across the road for an ocean dip, surf, a sunrise beach run, or an early morning headland walk along the pretty Gerringong to Kiama coastal walk.
The brief for Uma was for a barefoot luxury experience. Designed and built by local builder, Mincove Homes, Uma has a floorplan that spaciously flows from the multiple indoor living and entertaining spaces, to the alfresco entertaining, grassy backyard and saltwater pool.
Local interior stylist, Jessi Eve, oversaw the style direction of the Uma at Werri. “With Uma, we aimed to create a grounding space for guests to truly switch off and feel relaxed from the moment they walked through the door. We chose a nostalgic, retro-inspired palette but in slightly earthier tones for the property to be reminiscent of a summer holiday house of a bygone era.”
Built across two stories, the property offers both upstairs and downstairs lounge room spaces with plenty of room for guests to spread out and unwind. The balconies to the front and rear of the property ensure guests can watch the sun rise in the morning over the beach, and set in the late afternoon over the mountains.
The neutral, ground-level kitchen is elegant and functional in its open plan design, with a servery window and butler’s pantry. The kitchen adjoins the dining space with a table to seat up to 14, then flows out via sliding doors to a large entertaining terrace. A four-metre long teak dining table is the alfresco centrepiece along with a built-in barbecue and bar fridge.
The upstairs co-working space feels well connected to the house, yet is positioned in a large, private room that opens out to a rear balcony overlooking the backyard and pool. Catching up on work remotely has never been so easy!
For families, the kid’s playroom is a highlight with its playful design and hand-picked selection of books, games and toys to ensure the young ones are well entertained. The grassy backyard is a good size for kids to play, alongside the heated swimming pool and heated spa. Bounce back and forth from the beach across the road to the swimming pool with ease.
Owner Melanie Horner, said: “We wanted to create the ideal beach house so that friends and families can come together in our living and entertaining spaces and create precious holiday memories. Thoughtfully designed, spacious, private spaces for guests to retreat and refresh at the end of each day was also key to our brief.”
